02.09.2025 09:58 Gitlab upgrade Sunday Feb 9 from 10am to 11 am.

GitLab will undergo software updates on Sunday, February 9, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. During this time, the server may be intermittently unavailable. We appreciate your understanding as we work to improve our services.

08.07.2018 19:07 Campus-wide Power Outage: Shutdown in Progress

Due to the campus-wide power outage, the department is gracefully powering down services, including the Horvitz Cluster.

The csquota utility is showing incorrect values for the junkfood file system. Quotas are still being enforced.

We have isolated the root cause, but we don't have a timeline yet to fix it.

05.18.2018 14:07 Sat. May 5: 4am-6am:Campus wireless maintenance

DIT has announced that between 4 and 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2018, network maintenance will be performed to the campus wireless network. During the maintenance window, customers using UMD wireless networks may experience intermittent loss of connectivity.

Up to six outages lasting up to 2.5 minutes each for network connections going into or outside of the AVW building. (no disruption for connections within the building)

03.24.2018 01:49 DNS Issues

We are having problems with our internal DNS servers. This may cause network connections to be slow to start up as queries fail over from the first configured DNS server to a working DNS server.

03.22.2018 14:10 Network Maintenance Planned - Sun. 3/18 12-5PM

Noon - 2 pm: No disruption expected.
2:00p-3:00pm: Up to four outages lasting up to 2.5 minutes for network connections going into or outside of the AVW building.
3:00pm-5:00pm: 3rd and 4th floors of AVW may experience a network disruption lasting up to 30 seconds on their office machine.

03.22.2018 14:09 Authentication System and DNS Maintenance Planned - Sun. 3/18 10AM-12PM

We will update software on a few of our servers that will cause brief disruptions in authentication and DNS services during this period.

Authentication requiring CS credentials will be impacted, including:
Logging into mail on CS servers and webmail (CS G-Suite NOT impacted)
Login to VPN service
Login to supported Linux systems

*Windows logins will not be impacted but access to shared drives may.
