My name is Nikolaos Kofinas and I am currently a Ph.D. student at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Maryland, College Park. I was born and raised in Athens, Greece, where I spent all my school years. After finishing school in 2007, I moved to Chania, Crete, to study for my Diploma at the School of Electronic and Computer Engineering (ECE), in Technical University of Crete (TUC). During the five years of my studies, I participated in a variety of classes from all the areas of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering. During the last two years of my studies I was a member of the RoboCup team Kouretes and for my Diploma Thesis I implemented the analytical Forward and Inverse Kinematics for the NAO robot. During those two wonderful years I (as a member of the team) went to different scientific\ competitions and I met researchers from a variety of abroad universities. After my under-graduate studies, I started my Master degree in the same department. During my Master degree I was a research assistant my research topic was: "Grammatical Inference for Event Recognition". My thesis was part of the NOPTILUS project. Currently I am a Ph.D. student in the Department of Computer Science at University of Maryland, College Park. In my free time I like programming for fun and making LEGO constructions (from robots to anything I can imagine). Also, I like visiting foreign countries and play tennis (whenever I find a partner).
