Office Hours

If you need to see me during office hours, e-mail me the day before you are planning to stop by so we arrange a specific time. Thank you.

To get assistance during TA office hours:

• Get in the office hours queue during office hours periods or 5 minutes before an office hours period starts. If you add yourself outside of the ranges previously described, you will be removed from the queue. This is to prevent students from adding to the queue several hours before office hours start.
• Log on to the Grades Server.
• Look for the assignment "Office Hours" (OH).
• We are using the regrade request option in the grades server as a queue of students that need assistance. To get assistance, submit a regrade request for the "Office Hours" assignment, providing the following information:
  
  

  	      E-mail Address: your email
  	      Zoom link: your Zoom link
  	      Help needed: I want to learn Java :) 
                

• Immediately after adding yourself to the queue, open your Zoom session and leave it open. Make sure to disable the waiting room option. You need to be near your computer so you can see when a TA joins your session; there won't be any email or other notification that your request has been received.
• We have students that after seeing a TA immediately add themselves back to the queue; we will remove students that do this. You must wait at least 1 hour after seeing a TA if you want to see a TA again.
• You have a maximum of three TA office hours visits per day. There are two main reasons for this:
  • You need to think about the help provided so you can solve the problem yourself.
  • We need to try to provide all students with an opportunity to see TAs.

The Iribe Initiative for Inclusion & Diversity in Computing offers 1:1 tutoring for CMSC 131, 132, 216, 250, 330, and 351 around specific concepts discussed in class. To learn more and request tutoring, please visit Tutoring. Visiting a tutor does not mean you are having trouble with your course. Many students visit a tutor to get clarification about class concepts, but others visit a tutor to discuss advanced concepts they are interested and that we don't cover in class.
