Please submit character applications. The most important thing to
tell me when applying for the game is about your character. The
numbers aren't important to start with; we can always work those out
later. I want to get a real feel for who the character is, and what
is interesting about them. Characters who are active, rather than
reactive are preferred.
There is also plenty of room to change things in the history
section, so we can write your PC into any number of events. Remember,
this game is a collaborative effort.
- All characters are based on 100 points.
- Maximum of 10 points of Good/Bad Stuff.
- All PCs (unless they have very good reason) must be descended from
Amber's royal line. This means either purchasing some level of
Pattern Imprint, or buying an Amber Devotee.
- There is no attribute auction. Just spend as many points as you
like in each attribute.
- While you cannot specify your character's parentage, I will
consider your input on the matter.
- Whether a character starts with a trump deck, and what is
contained in it, depends on their status, whether they are a trump
artist, and when and where they walked the Pattern. There are no
spare decks in the library, and Dworkin's old decks are nowhere to be
found. Trumps are also not widely distributed by the crown.
- The game will be centered around Amber, so please keep that in
mind when creating your character.
Since there are a number of changes in the powers for the game, I
have a little cheat sheet available to make character creation easier.
Be sure to read the changes in the rules
before submiting a character.
Cheat Sheet
Attributes
Psyche, Strength, Endurance, Prowess, and Strategy.
Warfare has been split into two attributes, Prowess and Strategy.
The personal combat aspects of Warfare are captured by Prowess, and
the planning and tactical aspects of Warfare are captured by Strategy.
Powers
Advanced versions of powers are generally different from the books.
Players wishing to start with such abilities should contact the GM.
These powers will be much more customizable than basic powers and will
be co-designed by the player and GM. Of course, you still need to
explain how you got this advanced ability (this is especially true for
Advanced Blood Magic, which will probably not be allowed as a starting
power.)
-
Power Words (unchanged)
- Five Power Words [10 points]
-
Blood Magic
- Basic [20 points]
- Advanced [?? points]
-
Shapeshifting
- Basic [30 points]
- Advanced [?? points]
-
Trump Artistry (basic level unchanged)
- Basic [40 points]
- Advanced [?? points]
-
Pattern
- Initiate [15 points],
- Adept [50 points]
- Master [?? points]
Allies
See the Amber DRPG.
Shadows and Items
See the Amber DRPG. There are some additional powers and qualities for items and creatures (to replace the Spell Storage) in regards to Blood Magic.
Remember, all bought items and creatures bear some special connection to the
character. See the rules for more details.
Contributions
- Because the game is self documenting, there are no Diary or
Campaign Log contributions.
- Character Quiz [5 pts]
All you have to do is fill out the character quiz listed below.
- Flashbacks [5-10 pts]
This is an ongoing contribution that
is due weekly throughout the course of the game (though you can
obviously write longer flashbacks that will continue to count for
future weeks). These are just the Flashbacks for the Blood Loyalties
game on this board. Flashbacks can either be back stories (or even
side stories for covering sparse areas of in-game action) about your
character, or your thoughts and reflections on the current events.
5 pts for 250 words/week or
10 pts for 500 words/week
In addition, you must tell me exactly where you wish to spend those
points. If you don't follow through on the contribution the area where
you spend the points will be where you suffer, rather than it
automatically going into bad stuff (which could also happen).
Warning: This contribution is good deal of work. Before choosing
it please go to the Blood Loyalties: Flashback Status thread, and note
how current (or out of date) most of the players there are.
- Background Writeup [5-20 pts]
This does not include the character quiz. Preferably your background is written up in the form of a narrative of some sort. This does not include stat writeups, power writeups (for those with adv. powers), shadow or items descriptions. Just character history. Please send it to me, all compiled together. You can either email it to me, or send it in PM form (just break it up into part 1, 2, 3, etc)
5 pts for 1000 words or
10 pts for 2000 words or
15 pts for 4000 words or
20 pts for 8000 words (max 20 points!)
- The values and requirements for other contributions are still up for
debate.
Character Quiz
Please write all answers in the first person, as if speaking to a
very trusted confidant. Hopefully, writing in such a manner will help
you more quickly capture your character's voice. Answering the quiz
does not mean that the described conversation actually took place, so
you don't need to worry about your views having 'gotten out'. Answers
can be as short or long as you desire, though they should be
informative.
- Who do you most trust? How much do you trust them?
- If you were alive during the Patternfall War, what was your part
in it? If you didn't take part in the war, where were you and what
were you doing?
- Describe your romantic history? Are you or have you been married?
Have you ever been in love? Does your heart still yearn for somebody?
- Describe the circumstances of your first Patternwalk. If you have
not walked the Pattern, describe why.
- What is your greatest regret?
- What do you most desire?
- What do you do for fun? Do you have any hobbies? How do you
relax?
- Where you live? If you have a room in the castle, describe it.
If you live elsewhere describe that place.
- What is Shadow to you? Is it an endless playground for you to be
a god? Does it exist without you? Or is it a dangerous and perilous
place you'd prefer to avoid?
- What does Amber represent to you? Do you love it or hate it?
- What do you (the character) think your greatest flaw is?
- What have you been up to lately?
- Where do you envision yourself ten years from now? Fifty? One
hundred?
