Dr. Nespot (WLAN monitoring & diagnosis protocol)
|
[ Overview ]
- Dr. Nespot is the system used for monitoring, detecting troubleshoots and remotely controlling the AP.
- Dr. Nespot manager (S/W in a laptop) can access the Dr. Nespot agent on the AP via wireless or wired link.
- The Dr. Nespot protocol runs on IP broadcast, unicast, and EAPoL so that people can access the AP without the knowledge of its IP address.
|
[ Functions & Scenario ]
- Confirming AP installation: After installing the AP, we can check for correct configuration, proper working, and quality of service through Dr. Nespot Manager, and then the Manager reports the test result to the main center automatically.
- AP Configuration setting: Even though a user does not know the AP's IP address, Dr. Nespot manager can access the AP (which can be possibly out of order) through both wired and wireless networks using the Broadcast Protocol. The manager can verify the current setting and modify the setting (even reboot the AP).
- Remote diagnosis: When a customer complains about the poor WLAN service, operators check the AP and client status using Dr. Nespot. If the AP or client is misconfigured or found to have a well-known problem, the operator can access the configuration or solve the well-known problem using an expert system in the main center.
