I've said this once before, and I'll say it again: ignoring the sordid
details of implementation, I believe that a reasonable reading of the
current JLS (Chapter 12, Sec 12.4.2-3) absolutely forbids this sort of
anomaly, and even provides a naive implementation for ensuring that they
don't occur.
