Specific Observations: Canada
The number of hops on the route to this site is 9. The losses to this site vary from 0.01% to 1.35%. However, on 02/20/98 at 04:45, the losses were 27.17%. The range of loss percentage for the other sites is given below:
Bethesda: 0.05% to 2.66%
Chicago: 0% to 2.33%
Mexico: 0.075% to 18.02%
Italy: 0.77% to 40.08%
Taiwan: 1.26% to 15.22%
The average RTT value for this site ranges from 0.039 sec to 0.089 sec. This is reasonable when compared to the range of average RTT value for the other sites:
Bethesda: 0.015 to 0.025 sec
Chicago: 0.121 to 0.198 sec
Mexico: 0.122 to 0.411 sec
Italy: 0.232 to 0.923 sec
Taiwan: 0.309 to 0.432 sec
The minimum RTT observed is fairly constant. It was around 0.038 sec. Note that in the experiments on 02/18/98 at 19:45, on 02/19/98 at 04:45 and on 02/20/98 at 04:45, the minimum RTT value was observed to be 0.012 sec. This may be caused by a route change. There are considerable deviations in the roundtrip values with the highest RTT value being 8-12 times (0.219 - 0.788 sec) the minimum value. The number of reordered packets in our experiments ranged from 0 to 19. This is very low when compared to other sites. On 02/16/98 at 14:45, the RTT value suddenly increased from a mean value of about 0.05 sec to a mean value of about 0.15 sec. It remained at that value for the rest of the experiment and also throughout the experiments conducted at 19:45 on that day and at 04:45 on the next day. This resulted in the average RTT value being very high when compared to the minimum RTT value. This behavior was observed on 02/18/98 at 10:45 also, but it did not last till the next experiment. There is a periodic behavior in the roundtrip times but it is not as pronounced as in the experiments to Bethesda.
