Taewon Kang

Biography:
Taewon is a PhD Student (Aug 2024-) in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Maryland, College Park. Before that, he graduated from his undergraduate course (Mar 2020-Feb 2024) with Graduation Great Honors (magna cum laude), including Semester Honors (4.5/4.5), from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Korea University, in Seoul, South Korea. His research experience focuses on Generative Models and he has a strong background in Diffusion Models, Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN), and Image-to-Image Translation. He was awarded a National Presidential Science Scholarship by President Moon Jae-in in 2020. In addition, he received the 2020 Talent Award of Korea and the 2020 Youth Hero Prize in Academic (Science) from the Korean Ministry of Education and the Korea Scout Association. Before being admitted to Korea University, he was a high-priority (honors student) selected student at Sejong Academy of Science and Arts in Sejong, South Korea from 2017 to 2019.
