Nathalie Bonin
PhD Student
Biography:
Hi all! My name is Nathalie and I'm a new PhD student that is delighted to join the TERP family. During my time as an undergrad, I have studied both microbiology and computer science, and I have applied my knowledge in those two domains to accumulate research experience in bioinformatics and computational metagenomics.
During those next couple of years, my goal is to continue exploring ways to bridge the gap between microbiology and computer science and to help develop bioinformatic tools that can further our understanding of dangerous diseases and ongoing threats to both our local and our global public health. Additionally, I believe it to be especially important to provide accessible and equitable solutions to every individual, which is why I also wish to uplift the voices of marginalized communities both during my graduate studies and beyond.
When I am not busy studying or doing research, I love reading fantasy novels, sightseeing both at home and abroad, cooking all kinds of cuisine, and listening to music (especially Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey).
