Auguste Gezalyan
PhD Student
Biography:
Hello! My name is Auguste Henry Gezalyan, I am a PhD student at the University of Maryland working with Professor David Mount. I graduated in 2019 with a B.S. in Mathmetics from the University of California Santa Barbara. My reseach interests lie in the intersection of Real Analysis and Algorithms and Theory. Currently, I'm working with my advisor, Professor Mount, on characterizing various fundamental geometric structures in the Hilbert Metric. The Hilbert Metric is a generalization of the Cayley-Klein/Beltrami-Klein model of Hyperbolic geometry to general convex bodies, see my paper on Voronoi Diagrams in the Hilbert Metric for more information: [2112.03056] Voronoi Diagrams in the Hilbert Metric (arxiv.org). In general I am additionally interested in helping undergraduates get into research, contributing the Wikipedia, and disability advocacy. Please feel free to reach out to me by email!
This Summer I will be co-mentoring "Exploring the Hilbert Geometry" alongside Professor Mount.
