Mohammad Hajiaghayi Named EATCS Fellow
Jack and Rita G. Minker Professor Mohammad Hajiaghayi was recently named the fellow of European Association for Theoretical Computer Science-2020, for his outstanding contributions to the algorithmic graph theory, game theory, and distributed computing.
He was one of the 3 members selected by the EATCS Fellow Selection Committee.
Hajiaghayi’s research focuses on algorithmic game theory and combinatorial auctions, network design, combinatorial optimizations and approximation algorithms, fixed-parameter algorithms, algorithmic graph theory, distributed and mobile computing, and computational geometry and embeddings.
Hajiaghayi received his phd from MIT and served as a postdoctoral fellow in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University.
He has received several accolades which include the NSF Career award, Google Faculty Research award (twice) an Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award, the University of Maryland (UMD) Research and Scholarship Award (RASA), the EATCS Nerode Prize, the UMD Graduate Faculty Mentor of the Year award, and the Association for Computing Machinery’s (ACM) International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Coach Award.
Hajiaghayi is also an elected Guggenheim Fellow, an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Fellow, and an ACM Fellow.
In addition to being a professor in Computer Science Hajiaghayi holds joint appointments in University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies and University of Maryland Center for Machine Learning.
The EATCS Fellows Program was set up to recognize outstanding EATCS members for their scientific achievements in the field of Theoretical Computer Science.
