Admitted prospective Ph.D. students are cordially invited to the department's CS Prospective Graduate Student Visit Day on Friday, March 14, 2025. This Visit Day provides an opportunity to meet our faculty in person, engage with current graduate students, and network with fellow prospective students.
A general schedule will be provided below, and a personalized schedule will be sent to visitors closer to the event date.

Getting Here
The University of Maryland is located in College Park, MD, about 7 miles from the center of our nation's capital, Washington, D.C. Many of our students and faculty live in D.C., College Park, Silver Spring, and other surrounding towns. Visit day will take place in the Brendan Iribe Center for Computer Science and Innovation: Directions are found at https://www.cs.umd.edu/location
Train: The closest AMTRAK station is New Carrollton, approximately 15 miles from the IRIBE center. For detailed schedules and fares, check AMTRAK's official website.
Air Travel: The nearest airports are Baltimore-Washington International (BWI), Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA), and Washington Dulles International (IAD). Dulles Airport (IAD) is much less convenient to campus.
Public Transportation: The College Park-UMD Metro Station (Green Line) provides convenient access to the campus. Check the WMATA website for updated metro service hours and fares.
Reimbursement Info
Visiting admitted students will arrange their own travel and then file for reimbursement after the event. We can reimburse up to $500 for transportation (airfare/railfare/personal car), $200/night for one hotel room for up to 2 nights ($400 maximum), and reasonable ground transportation from the airport to the hotel and back. Reimbursement takes between 6-8 weeks after submission. We recommend reading UMD's travel policy in case you have questions about what expenses cannot be reimbursed.

- Complete the "CS Grad Visit Travel Form" before March 7th to be eligible for reimbursement. UMD-sponsored travel must be pre-approved before the trip.
- As part of this form, complete either the W9 form or (if a non-U.S. citizen) complete the W8BEN form and upload it as part of that form. If you complete a W8BEN Form, you will also need to attach a copy of your VISA as well as a document showing proof of address. Note: Please be sure to sign and date all forms submitted.
- After the event, please upload your receipts to this link (which can also be found in Google Forms). Naming convention Last Name, First Name_Receipts

Dress comfortably in business casual attire and wear appropriate shoes for walking. The weather around the Visit Day from March 13th to 15th indicates mild temperatures, but be prepared for wind and possible rain on Friday.
