Straights

Five cards with values that are consecutive values without "wrapping around" (with once important exception listed below) is called an "Straight". For example:  2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

This is an example of a "straight":

2 of hearts 5 of clubs 4 of hearts 3 of clubs 6 of hearts

These cards contain the consecutive values (2, 3, 4, 5, 6), so it is an "straight".

Important Note Regarding Aces

With straights, the Ace behaves a little different from other cards. It can be used either as the "low end" (value of 1) or as the "high end" (value of 10) but not both in the same hand to try to "wrap around".
See the examples below:

This is a straight:

6 of clubs  7 of hearts  8 of hearts  9 of diamonds  ace of clubs

However, the hand below is NOT an straight!!

9 of hearts  1 of spades  2 of hearts  3 of clubs  4 of diamonds

Again, the hand above is NOT an straight.
A straight cannot wrap around since the Ace can't be treated as both a 10 (which comes after 9) and a 1 (which comes before 2) in the same hand.
