Mossaab Bagdouri named IBM PhD Fellow for 2016

The Department of Computer Science is pleased to announce that Mossaab Bagdouri has been named as one of IBM's PhD Fellows for 2016.  Bagdouri is entering his final year as a graduate student in the Computer Science Department, where he works on making machines understand human language through Information Retrieval, Text Classification, and Computational Linguistics.  Bagdouri currently conducts research with Doug Oard in the Computational Linguistics and Information Processing (CLIP) Lab.  Bagdouri holds a Ingénieur d'Etat en Informatique from École Nationale Supérieure d'Informatique et d'Analyse des Systèmes (ENSIAS) in Rabat, Morocco (2007), and a M.S. from University of Colorado at Boulder (2011) .  He has published ten papers in various conferences including AAAI Conference on Web and Social Media and ACM Conference on Information and Knowledge Management; he has also co-written a book chapter in Crisis Information Management: Communication and Techniques (Chandos, 2011). Bagdouri has also been the recipient of a Fullbright Student Scholarship.
