This class provides an introduction to computer networking. It will cover basic networking concepts and algorithms. We will also discuss several existing local and wide area networks to understand the design tradeoffs.
The programming project in this class will be to simulate a network of ATM switches and to create an implementation of AAL-7 on top of your ATM environment. This project is large and will require a substantial amount. You will also work in teams and write design documents that describing your plan to defined and implement the project.
