• To use Java on WAM systems, first type "tap java" in the window you want to use it.
• All of Sun's information on Java is available at  JavaSoft.
• They have documentation, define the API, support the freely downloadable JDK 1.2 for Windows and Solaris and have an on-line tutorial and coding conventions among other things.
• Some commercial Java Development Environments you can purchase that support Java 2 are: Inprise JBuilder, Sybase PowerJ, Symantec Visual Cafe, and IBM Visual Age.

• Ultraedit - this is shareware, but can be used for 45 days for free
• Emacs - this is my favorite.  It is a bit harder to learn, but is very powerful, and very efficient for experts.  It is available on Unix, and on Windows.
