Portals vs Windows
A portal is not like a window, which represents a dedicated link
between a section of screen and a specific thing (eg: a Unix shell in
X-Windows or a directory in the Macintosh Finder). A portal is,
rather, a view onto the infinite Pad++ surface; links to
specific items are established and broken continually as the portal's
view changes.
Also, unlike windows, portals can recursively look onto other portals - you
can get some pretty interesting effects with portals:
We will discover more about portals later. First, lets look at
hyperlinks.
