Listening to Maps (University of Maryland)

Two sounds for each state: Piano pitch mapped to variable value (equivalent to color), followed by string pitch mapped to vertical position on the map
(sample sound for a state)
Map overview (or gist): linear sweep on map (about 25sec. duration).
Top to bottom, left to right sweep.
Bell indicates bottom of map (like a carriage return bell).
(sample partial sweep, from Alaska down to Hawai - bell to mark return to top - then Washington State, Oregon etc. till the middle of the US map)
