Yoko Ono

• Pink Floyd recorded Piper At The Gates Of Dawn in 1967 in Abbey Road studios - same place and same time when The Beatles were recording Sgt. Peppers' Lonely Hearts Club Band . Various sources mention that both bands visited each other during the recording sessions in Spring 1967 (Pink Floyd visited The Beatles when the latter were recording It's Getting Better).

• I has been rumored for a long time that Syd Barrett took part in the recording of The Beatles' outtake What's The News, Mary Jane , also known as What A Shame Mary Jane . This is NOT TRUE !!!

• David Gilmour plays guitar on the following Paul McCartney's songs and albums:
  • ballad version of No More Lonely Nights , Paul McCartney's 1984 single. This version later appeared on Paul's album Give My Regards To Broad Street.
  • We Got Married from Paul's 1989 album Flowers In The Dirt,

• In 1973, Wings were recording their Red Rose Speedway album at the same time when Pink Floyd was recording The Dark Side Of The Moon . Both bands recorded at Abbey Road studios. That is why when members of Pink Foyd team interviewed a number of people around the studio, Paul and Linda McCartney were among the interviewed. However their answers to "Are you afraid of dying?" and similar questions did not appear on the final version of The Dark Side of The Moon

• According to some interviews with Roger Waters , he consideres John Lennon to be the best poet of the post World War II time.

• Paul McCartney in his turn was a big fan of Pink Floyd in their early days. He was spoted at Pink Floyd concerts at the Cavern a number of times.

• Roger Waters took part in a trubite to John Lennon that took place on BBC TV on June 12 1985. Roger, accompanied by Andy Fairwaether-Low sang Accross The Universe

• The lyrics in Pink Floyd's Let There Be More Light (from 1968's A Saucerful Of Secrets album contain among others the following phrase : The outer lock rolled slowly back
  The service men were heard to sigh
  For there revealed in glowing robes
  Was Lucy in the sky
  

• Lyrics for The Beatles' song Fool On The Hill start with :	Lyrics for Pink Floyd's song One Of My Turns start with :
  Day after day alone on a hill the man with a foolish grin sits perfectly still	Day after day Life turns grey Like a skin of a dying man
  In both songs, Day after day is sung in exactly the same key

• In his November, 1992 Musician interview Roger Waters said:

  "You can draw a line between what I'm interested in and what I'm not interested in. On one side you can name Dylan and Lennon, who observe the world and have feelings, and write songs directly from those feelings. On the vapid side you have pop groups who need material and write songs to fill the hole, rather than getting somebody else."

  "I always question stuff I do. There's a moment after making a demo of a song and sticking it on in the car when I really get off on it, but it doesn't last very long. And then when it's in a finished record and you listen to it once or twice, it's there, but again, it doesn't last. I think it is in the nature of all people who do these things - in the Lennon, the Dylan, the Pete Townshend manner, that come from the heart - that the gratification doesn't stay with you and you feel compelled to go start the process all over again."

• Apparently, Roger Waters does not like Yoko Ono . The following lyrics come from The Pros And Cons Of Hitch Hiking album (the song is 5.01 AM (The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking) ): The Eastern seaboard spread before my eyes
  "Jump" says Yoko Ono
  "I'm too scared and too good looking" I cried
  "Go on", she says
  "Why don't you give it a try?
  Why prolong the agony all men must die"

  Did you understand the music Yoko
  Or was it all in vain?
  The following is a quote from Roger Waters:

  Some of the ideas have come from my own dreams and also there are bits and pieces of other people's dreams. In fact, the third verse of the album's title track talks about standing on the wing of an aeroplane, looking down at the Eastern Seaboard of the United States and Yoko Ono being there, and telling me to jump; that everybody's got to die some time and the manly thing to do is to end it all now.

  That dream belongs to Andy Newmark, the drummer. He came in one day and over lunch in the pub he told me about this dream and I thought, "That's a good dream, I'll try and fit that in somewhere." So I did.

• Yoko Ono was one of the participants of April 29, 1967, 14 Hour Technicolour Dream show at Alexandra Palace, London. She had some sort of an art-performance.
  Note: At that time Yoko Ono and John Lennon were yet to meet.

• Norman Smith was appointed as Pink Floyd's producer because he had prior experience of working with the Beatles.

• Alan Parsons, sound engeneer of The Dark Side Of The Moon also too part in recording The Beatles' Abbey Road

• Storm Thorgerson did the artwork for the Wings' album Wings Over America.
• Other musicians:
  • Eric Clapton - a friend of George Harrison , participated in the recording of The Beatles' While My Guitar Gently Weeps. He also participated in the recording of The Pros And Cons of Hitchhiking and played with Roger Waters in the first leg of 1984 tour.
